Stocking my Booth: Day 2

It is ready to roll... well nearly.... still a little bit of tweaking, waiting for my magnets to arrive (sweat sweat), and adding a few signs (that i still need to create.... oof the never ending list.... ooo ooo must ADD TO LIST: charge my big camera batteries to take better pics on Friday). But to say I am one tired, exhausted, drained but "VERY PLEASED with the end result chick" is a total understatement. Words cannot express the weight lifted once you have got yourself to this stage. The behind the scenes work is still flat out, but that "I'm Ready to open for business" feeling is a good one for sure ....

Building our Booth: Day 1

Yesterday afternoon saw all the months of sketching, planning, designing and sweating finally come together when we started to build our booth for the ECR House & Garden Show 2011 starting this Friday. Taking something from your head and trying to lay it out into an empty six square metres is nooooo easy feat. But very glad to say that the results have left with me with the happiest little mud hut heart indeed and all the sleepless nights were well worth it.
In true HOMEGROWN FAIR style, the very talented and now totally exhausted Terry Angelos has done the hall in the most delicious coloured paper pom poms strung from the ceiling..... my picture doesn't give them the true glory they deserve......

My hubby Craig survived all my nagging, altering, chopping and changing. He has been wonderful and with the help of Theo who works for him, they have done an incredible job building my vision. Poor Theo had no idea what this crazy white lady was upto. What on earth had we built shelves from reclaimed wood for that are unfinished and rough... why we laid out pieces of furniture in the garden (thats me trying to visualize the space)... you could totally read his mind as he looked on in confusion. Once we had put it all together he was in awe..... so happy and excited (the eish's were rolling out, lol). I gave him two of my complimentary tickets. Can you believe that he has NEVER seen anything like this show before. I am so happy that he can experience a little of what this crazy white chick has been upto for the past few months.

Cannot tell you how happy I am with my neighbours..... on my left is THE most beautiful ceramics made by RAYNE CERAMICS..... we have been neighbours at I heart Market too, so nice to have familar faces taking on this adventure alongside me. Rayne's booth looks amazing and definately will TOTALLY worth your visit.... lovely that our booths compliment eachother so nicely too.

Looking rather bare, but I am so happy with the naked result... hope the stock stashing and laying out goes as well as this went together....

House and Garden Show 2011

The last few months I have been hard at work planning, making, stressing, designing, exciting, exploring, crafting, stitching, painting, stamping, stressing, polka-dotting, pegging, sourcing, bunting, did i mention stressing......... and this is all thanks to this:

Little Mud Hut is extremely excited to have been invited to have a stall in the much acclaimed HOMEGROWN hall of the annual House and Garden Show.... probably the biggest show in Durban of it's kind..... So how do you prepare stock when you are given volumes of some 90 000 people moving through the doors of the show over the 10 days the event is on. Your guess is as good as mine.

I have bashed around ideas for my stall, googled and oogled..... chopped and changed and thrilled to finally have designed the stall..... it is in my head..... now in some bits of furniture too - thanks to my hubbies handy work (even though he is no workworker at all). And time, oh precious precious time is running out quickly.

I have had a great time exploring new color combinations and ideas for the pegs and very excited to get them together and packaged sooooon. Magnets are in the process of seeing a change and holding thumbs as I sit here typing that they will be ready in time...... oh the joys of stress (keeps the hairdressers busy though washing away all those greys). New (and very few I'm afraid to admit.....) but very excited to share my new peg boards (if you can call them that - add to list.... naming of peg boards thingies)...

Wish I could more diligent about blogging...... must must must....

Hoping to meet many new customers and cannot wait for the awesome crafty atmosphere of the Homegrown Hall at this years House and Garden show.
